just a few unsorted thoughts after watching the dark knight with shao and jane today:
the name of the movie says a lot! it's just "the dark knight". you dont see the word "batman" anywhere. and so when darius said "hey the show isnt about batman" i thought, well, maybe that's the whole point. rather, this show is more about the antics of the Joker, and what he represented, and thus the response of the dark knight to this cause of the dark night. the line "it's the darkest when it's just before dawn" comes to mind.
it also has a very big sense of loss, helplessness, and meaninglessness. how LT gordon and everyone else tries so hard to fight crime, but the chaos and evil is so widespread and overwhelming. (how did gordon fake his own death at the mayor's assasination attempt i have no idea) how the central character that was so lofty and ideal and yet was brought down by the joker. and how this idea of a messanic character, on whom all hopes were pinned on, ultimately results in a fallen tragic hero. (yes shao i expect you to expound more on this point)
a lil stressed/worried bout bidding! shall check on it now.
and my NS posting is confirmed.... no escaping 290SA rawr. nice letter just arrived, warned against blogging too much about it so i shall stop here and not go further haha.

random babblings that i can remember right now:
i'm a lil pissed at the situation regarding the usage of the house com right now; i realise that i dont get anything done at home because my sis is hogging the com. first was the article that i had to write up for the kedah trip: there wasnt a lot of conducive time i actually had in front of the com to come up with that article.
aside: i've got a couple more articles in mind, that probably got to wait till i have my laptop; the stories of my two years in green (thanks daruis), my book review/summarization of the book Deliver Us From Evil by ravi zacharias (thanks marcus), and i've toyed with the idea of coming up with a comparison of "for vs against infant baptism" and maybe a theological application on the topic of clubbing, but this latter two will take a lot more research.
but the point that gets to me most is that a lot of blogging ideas are lost to me. being someone who can passably be described as having an 'artistic' mind (as opposed to a 'technical' one), i operate mostly on inspiration, flashes of brilliances in that exact moment, fleetings of images and thoughts that comes, and goes away as fast as they came. by the time i do get my hands on the keyboard most of the time the points are gone, and i just chat on MSN and FB like mad. it does feel empty and proves to be an exercise in meaninglessness.
i've alr started the habit of not using the com at all when my sis drags on to 11pm. well maybe because practisers of a certain profession cites that magical time as their bedtime so i wont bother to catch them online after 11, but also because i want to prove the point that it's not because i sleep late that's why my sister uses that as an excuse to pass me the com so late, it because she passes the com so late to me that i'm sleeping late. in effect, confusing the cause and effect for each other.
it's especially telling that i actually have more time to go online at work than it is at home. i wonder what lessons God has in mind for me when He allows me to go thru such a situation at home. one of which might be that the computer's not the only reason why i'm going home for.
ah moment of rememberence haha. i was just emo-ing to myself wondering what it is exactly that gets me wanting to go sheares hall so badly and not getting it. FB pics of pple having fun with rag and planning SWOC didnt help the least bit. i narrowed down the most basic reason to this:
that i wanted the feeling of being part of a family.
it's true. i've nv felt that i connected deeply enough with my dad and my sister, well my closest bond would be with my mom, but you might think that it's not close enough at all, by your, my dear reader, standards. i do get this feeling in a very low-level sense in whatever CCAs i've had the privilage (did i get the spelling right this time miss ho?) of being in, be it soccer, peers, or even scouts, if i want to get more way back. but this feeling really comes on very strongly in hall, as a bunch of pple that stays tgt and looks out for each other and loves one another.
something's missing from this picture, isn't it. something that i realised that i've alr taken for granted.
that i'm in the family of God as well.
i guess the "honeymoon period" of being a Christian's over, in a very narrow sense. i'm still awed by the mystery of salvation, but now i think that the reason that i'm so sad over losing out on hall's that i've looked lightly on the love and fellowship that actually the church and YAF in particular has. of course what we're doing now isnt enough still (my bad) but thanks be to God, that thru His Spirit we're always united and fired up in whatever we do, always adding numbers to our midst, taking charge of whatever we're planning next.
looks like i dont have much grounds to be 'emo' anymore hahas.

quotable quotes from the book i'm reading now, "The Screwtape Letters" by Clive Staples Lewis:
"He wants to kill their animal self-love as soon as possible; but it is His long-term policy, i fear, to restore to them a new kind of self-love-a charity and gratitude for all selves, including their own; when they have really learned to love their neighbours as themselves, they will be allowed to love themselves as their neighbours."
-chapter 14, on humility
"indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one-the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts."
-chapter 12, on the meaning of life or the lack therof.
nice. =)
